Una Hewitt at Boom

Meet the remarkable Una Hewitt, former CEO of an African group of companies with over 1,000 employees. She saved the business and led the turnaround and the sale to new owners. At Boom, we are excited to collaborate with Una to help CEOs drive business growth.

Here is Una Hewitt in her own words, in a conversation with Boom founder Dave Hertig from April 2024.

In the video, Una is introduced as the former CEO of a financial services group with over 1000 employees in five African countries. She assumed her role at the age of 36 and had the mission to restructure, centralize, and make the group profitable. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Una successfully secured $30 million from US investors, saving the group and facilitating its sale to new owners. She has stepped down as CEO and remains involved as an independent non-executive director on the boards of two of the group’s companies. Una describes herself as a crisis and change manager, excelling under challenging conditions. At the end of the video, Boom founder Dave Hertig says how impressed he is with Una Hewitt’s achievements and that he’s thrilled to work with her in Boom’s Sparring Partner Program for progressive CEOs.
